I realise it is a tricky issue; if the leaper fails his roll he doesn't have anywhere to fall unless the character underneath can be moved somewhere.

Yes, exactly... But it seems like there's no possibility to move the character below to an adjacent point in the navmesh. Perhaps the navigation space is too narrow to create those snap-points essential to moving your characters when performing athletic actions. I will bring the issue to one of our programmers.
