If your game is not launching properly or if your stuck in loading screens for no reasons or if your experiencing erratic behaviour after an update here are some few steps you can follow before posting:
  • 1 - Validate that your system fits with the game requirements.
  • 2 - Verify the integrity of your game cache . Some files may have been corrupted during installation or update. Full steps detailed here:
    https://support.steampowered.com/kb_art ... -QEUH-3335
  • 3 - Be sure your graphics drivers are up to date.
  • 4 - If you are using a laptop be sure it's using your dedicated GPU. Here is a link that details the whole process:
    https://support.serato.com/hc/en-us/art ... -computer-
  • 5 - If you recently updated to Windows 10, make sure your Documents folder is not in read-only. Here's how:
    1. a) Open File Explorer.
      b) Right click on 'Documents' under 'Computer' or 'This PC' in the left column and click 'Properties'.
      c) Click the tab 'Security' then the button 'Advanced'.
      d) Click the button Click 'Add' then click 'Select a principal' from 'Principal:'.
      e) Click the button 'Advanced' then the button 'Find Now'.
      f) Select your username account under 'Search results:' and click the button 'OK'.
      g) Click again the button 'OK'.
      h) Check 'Full control' under 'Basic permissions:' and click the button 'OK'.
      i) Click again the button 'OK' and again the button 'OK' in order to close the window 'Documents Properties'.
  • 6 - Try forcing the game to run on Lower Settings.
    • a)Go to MyDocuments/My Games/Mordheim and delete your options.sg file.
      b) Open your Steam games Library.
      c) Find Mordheim: City of the Damned in your Library.
      d) Right Click on Mordheim: City of the Damned and select "Properties".
      e) In the "General" tab click on "Set Launch Options...."
      f) In the textfield add: -lowSettings and then press OK
  • 7 - NEW!!! - If your video card does not support DirectX11, or if you encounter any other problems, you can try launching the build in DirectX9 by setting the following launch options: -force-d3d9
    • a) Open your Steam games Library
      b) Find Mordheim: City of the Damned in your Library.
      c) Right Click on Mordheim: City of the Damned and select "Properties".
      d) In the "General" tab click on "Set Launch Options...."
      e) In the textfield add: -force-d3d9 and then press OK
  • 8 - Be sure that the full path to Mordheim installation folder does NOT contain any special characters (like "=" or "!").
  • 9 - If the game was working well prior to an update but crashes and none of the above solution worked for you, you can try to reset the content of Mordheim in the registry.
Open the registry editor (windows + regedit)
Go to Computer/HKEY_USERS/[cyphered name folder]/Software/Rogue Factor.
Then completely delete the Mordheim folder.
  • 10 - If by any means, the game still won't launch or crash on loadings, send us your logs and DxDiag. Here's how:
    1. a) Run Steam and click on LIBRARY
      b) Right click on 'Mordheim: City of the Damned' and select 'Properties'.
      c) In the "General" tab click on "Set Launch Options...."
      d) In the textfield add: -fullLog and then press OK
      e) Launch the game and try to reproduce the issue
      f) Once you have encountered your issue again, stop playing and do the following:
      g) Run Steam and click on LIBRARY.
      h) Right click on 'Mordheim: City of the Damned' and select 'Properties'.
      i) Click the tab 'LOCAL FILES' then the button 'BROWSE LOCAL FILES'.
      j) Open the folder 'Mordheim_Data'.
      k) The file name is 'output_log.txt'.
      l) Press the keys Windows Start (bottom left) and 'R' from the keyboard to open the 'Run dialog box' and type: DXDIAG
      m) Click the button 'OK'.
      n) Click the button 'Save All Information...'.
      o) Save the file 'DxDiag.txt' and close the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
      p) Take both files (output_log.txt & DxDiag.txt) and send them to logs@rogue-factor.com with a brief description of them problem and a link to your topic on this forum.
Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your patience.
