Books with warhammer/Mordheim?

Postby Jonkenden » 07 September 2014, 08:21

Anyone here got books they think are good reads? I have read Gotrek and felix omnibus 1 and 2 IIRC and also Defenders of Ulthuan.

Gotrek and Felix books are a good read if you don't have huge demands, it has so far also featured a few "special" characters of note in the warhammer world.

Defenders of Ulthuan i don't remember so much about since it was long ago i read it, but it was probably not so memorable i suppose.

Any tips for good ones? I'm not big on Warhammer 40 k, wich is unfortunate considering it's popularity.

Its not a novel per se, but The Liber Chaotica is amazing. More than just a "fluff" tomb, it's full of interesting stories and information. Alot of it drawn from the older editions of Warhammer. Alot of excellent artwork too.

I enjoyed Witch Hunter, but I found the sequels got really trashy.

Its a shame your not into 40k. The Horus Heresy books are FANTASTIC. I'd recommend them to anyone who's into sci-fi in general.

Will look into that witch hunter then.

Ye i heard good things about them, i might dip into that at some point. The modern weapons kinda put the 40 k in a different feel than the FB to me. I like the fantasy approach a bit more than the sci fi version, having said that i did play the games for it and found it enjoyable. So I don't shun it.

Thanks for the tips by the way : )

The Von Carstein trilogy is nice to read.

I also liked A Murder in Marienburg and the sequel A Massacre in Marienburg

At the moment I'm reading G&F 4th Omnibus.

I have the Nagash trilogy already waiting for me :D

I have always likes the Blackhearts books.
It is "just" the dirty dozen in the warhammer world. But it works.

I second Witch Hunter/Blackhearts. Brunner is also worth reading. If I had to suggest just one it'd be Tales of the Old World. Gives some variety.

Gotrek and Felix are great up until the last 4/5 books; basically watch the author names and each time it changes expect the quality to drop significantly.
