Globadier and poison resist in skaven Warband

Postby Mekren » 18 January 2017, 08:55

Hello everyone ! Rather new player (just reached level 10 with some girls in my sister warband, first to survive this far  ) coming for advice.

So, I've juste heard about globadiers wrecking things on zombie-focused undead warbands. Since I'm a RP guy, I want to do something similar on a skaven-only warband. Of course, no one except the globadier in the band is actually immune to poison, which makes the whole thing trickier. My actual roster is not settled yet but here's the plan :

-Loads of warpguards for their 44 base poison resist, allows to go for a less-risky poison check on a henchman when it's actually worth it. Getting them poison resist reducing enchantments to lower enemy chances to resist globes and poison debuffs. Getting the poison resist passive on them.
-Chief and black skaven with weeping blades, to scratch people from the border of the globes effect zone and add up more poison (at least one builds for numbling or warp poison).
-Night runner with shuriken for more numbling/warp poison on multiple targets.
-Eshin sorcerer for bless of filth. Probably warplock pistols as a side job.
-The globadier itself, focused on poison globes of course, healing globes and debuff globes as secondary utlilty tools. Not fixed on his fighting style however, shuriken seems good for survivability and placement, dodge tank focused seems nice to run around with the warpguards and use poison around himself.

My three first games made me wonder. Seems that a shitload of enemies have actually better poison resistance than my heroes (not counting warpguards as that's one of their main strenghts), doing poison check tests with something like 33 or even 39 chances to succeed. Fought witch hunters and sisters so far. So I want to go for poison resist debuff skills. Problem, I have a hard time understanding how these skills will affect my own people.

Area of effect skills like the one giving the globadier's globes a poison resist debuff to targets, or the eshin sorc poison spell... Does it touch resistance of my own troups too ? Meaning, if my sorc debuffs my 60% poison resist troups to 20%, even if it negates the enemy resistance, that clearly won't be worth it...
Same for the passive poison expert. Does it reduce resists of your own people when throwing a globe or casting a mist spell ?

Thanks in advance for the highlights :D . If anything else seems problematic in my build plan, feel free to criticise it (I'm a PVE only guy for now, this warband won't go online so PVP shouldn't be taken into account).

I try to avoid my own guys whenever possible. It isn't worth running the risk of poisoning your own troops. What I like to do is rather than surround the enemy in clown car fashion, is keep all of my guys on one side of a melee and throw globes to the other side. That way the enemy get poisoned and my dudes don't.

That's what I'm doing for now. But my warpguards are reaching their first skill and I still wonder what to teach them (either go for parry skills or give them poison resist passive to allow them rush adversaries in the poison clouds more freely). If poison resist debuffs affect allies I clearly won't build them that way, but if it only affects opposing units I definitely want to try it.

Any clue about that ?

*PS : Just had so much fun when fighting sisters last night. Caught the heavy-armored momma-pope "rushing" my team with two of her henchmen in a long alleyway. I just backed up everyone for three turns, leaving globes on their path. They all took almost 100 damage from globes before I actually had to stop to fight their flanking smuggler friends :D *

I use warpguards purely as parry tanks. I don't like the movement penalty that heavy armour gives you so instead I focus on flash parry, web of steel and shield specialist for defence.

If I have an alleyway situation I do the same, except that I only ever use one globadier.

Yes same for me, warpguards don't go in heavy armor because they need to follow the pack and they already lack blue pills compared to heroes and chief... And none of those will ever go with anything heavier than light armor in a skaven warband :D . Only one globadier too.

I will make my own tests when I will have the chance to be dominating a match against IA, to see if poison resist debuff of globes reduce tests for the warpguards, and post this here when it will be done. Skaven have a tougher time than sisters surviving at those low levels, 50-60% dodge and no sidestep yet makes them too easily wounded in combat for now. With more survivability I will be more capable to test damage on my own troops
